Match Reports
U17 Leinster League Longford U17 62 Westmanstown 14
Longford did not know what to expect, never played this team before so to be on the cautious side each player gave 110% delivering a fantastic result. It turned out to be a one- sided game.
Gareth O’Hara set the tone of the game by scoring our first try within 4 minutes from the start; this was followed by a conversion by Michael Dunne.
Two minutes later, Westmanstown scored their first try and converted it. Longford responded with tries from David Connolly, James Reilly, Ben Victory and second try from Gareth.
Half time Longford 29 – 7 Westmanstown.
Seconds in the second half, Gareth broke through the Westmanstown defence and passed the ball to Michael Dunne who scored a beautiful try!
Immediately after the restart, Ciaran McGlynn through sheer passion and determination scored his first try of this season; he was quite happy.
A temporary distraction from our lads created and opportunity for Westmanstown score a great try followed by a conversion flawlessly executed.
One more wave of attacks from Longford and Joshua Manning found a gap and scored also his first try of this season.
Five minutes later and after a series of tackles and ball carries from David Connolly, Daniel Reilly, Michael Dunne and James Murphy, Gareth scored his third try converted by Michael Dunne.
With four minutes left before the end of the game, there was no sign of Longford easing off the pressure and continued to attack and show great skills. Ben sealed our victory with his second try in this game converted by Michael.
Next, we are travelling to Balbriggan on Sunday 26th November; players and coaches would appreciate your support.
