Weekly Longford RFC Coach/Player Blog: Backs Coach Glenn Baskett   23/09/2016

From the coaches view this week.......

Pre Season is over. The foundations have been laid and a lot of work over the off season by the coaching team has been done. Both training and the 4 matches played so far have shown a continued progression, and that is what was asked for and has been delivered. The numbers at training, especially in the last few weeks, have shown there is a willingness to build something meaningful in the season ahead. Training Tuesday showed a start of a focus for the big challenge on Sunday of the two matches away to Portarlington in our first Leinster League outings of the season. The boys are well aware of the tough place it is to get a result, and will have to be better than they have been so far this season for the full 80mins.The players are driving their environment on and off the pitch and that is bringing a focus to training on the roles they have to carry out Sunday. Players places are not guaranteed and the guys know they need to put in the effort all the time to hold off others pushing for the starting place. The build up continues to Sunday in Portarlington with Fridays training session round the corner.
