U10s and U11s Blitz
U10s and U11s Blitz

On Sunday last Longford hosted a blitz with travelling teams coming from Terenure  RFC and Mullingar  RFC.

We divided our U10's and our U11's into two teams of eleven each.  David took team one to play three matches against Terenure and Dan Magan took team two to do likewise.

Team two started very strongly in their campaign and ran at their opposition at every opportunity with our  furious Jack Mangan stealing up the right wing to his first of two tries in this game in the first Minute.

Great team work followed throughout this game with Aaron Griffin running hard at all tries and defending very well, he provided Andrew Dillon with a ball who off loaded to Luke Reilly who was in great running form in this game and scored a total of three tries throughout.

Ryan McHugh, who bravely carried an Injury to his wrist for the day off loaded to Paddy Duggan who crashed through the Terenure defence to score a textbook try.

Superb defending behind Terenure line by Terence Hegarty and Dillion Smith allowed our speedy Andrew Dillion to get in for a great team worked try.

Dillion Smith was in action again moments later driving forward with Terence hegarty in support to crash through to score a try. Brian Hanley and Fionn Cusack combined will in defence to prevent a Terenure attack with Conor Campbell in support at all times.

Our defensive work in this game was good and with Aaron Griffin and Jack Mangan tacking superbly we kept Terenure Scoreless.

Our next game was against a stronger side and our defensive game was called upon more.  Terenure scored first but with some great team work from Paddy Duggan, Terence Hegarty and Luke Reilly, Dillion Smith pounced over to level the match.

The effects of our first game started to show and Terenure finished stronger with a try to win the game

Our last game was against a very strong Terenure side and our tiring boys conceded more than should have done, but their spirit and teamwork never failed.  Our other team had an equally enjoyable day with the following squad:
Robbie Shaw, Oisin Cusack, Cal jones, Sean McManus, Iarla O'Sullivan, Simon Mulvey, Rian Cox, Fred Davis, Jack Magan, Ryan Corcoran, Barry O'Brien.  The try scorers were Iarla O'Sullivan, Simon Mulvey, Ryan Corcoran (2).
